Program Note

The Jewish contribution to music is beautifully vast, and spans far beyond our comprehension. ‘The Business of Recovery’ pays homage to this, and the ever-mending lives and memories of those who fought for their freedom of religious, cultural and fundamentally human prerogative. It moves through ideas of reflection, hope and on to catharsis. Through the inspiration of the resting heartbeat in the opening section, and the concept of inevitable transience and the passing of time, may the tempo and drive of my piece take the listener on a journey of relief and repose.
